Palma, October 14th, 2024 - APSL, a Nagarro company, has been awarded the tender carried out by Mercator Ocean International to develop the MArine Product Information Tool (MAPIT). This project, intended for Mercator Ocean International's Copernicus framework, aims to improve accessibility, accuracy and efficiency in the management and distribution of metadata of key oceanographic products, which are fundamental for scientific research and monitoring of the marine environment.

The plan is to develop the different functionalities of the metadata management platform and to take charge of its maintenance and technical support, guaranteeing continuous and optimal operation of the service.

Inma Ruiz, Project Manager of the project, explained:

We want to contribute our experience and knowledge in the development of advanced technological tools for the management of large volumes of data. With this we seek to optimize access to crucial information for the benefit of research and the scientific community working in the oceanographic and environmental fields.

Mercator Ocean International, based in Toulouse, France, is a leading organization in the production and dissemination of oceanographic data within the framework of the Copernicus program, providing essential services for the observation and prediction of the world's oceans. Its products and services are used by scientists, governments and international organizations to improve understanding of the marine environment and address challenges such as climate change and sustainable management of marine resources.

The development of this service will be supported by a technology stack that includes Python, Django, ReactJS, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Node.js and TypeScript.

With this award, APSL Nagarro consolidates its presence and work for public administrations and international organizations, thus expanding its client portfolio in the scientific and environmental sector. Currently, it already collaborates with other public institutions such as the Ajuntament de Barcelona, Concello da Coruña, SOCIB or Ports de Balears, among others.
