Palma, May 21, 2025 – APSL, a company within the global digital engineering group Nagarro, has been awarded the contract for the development of an open data portal tendered by Aguas Municipalizadas de Alicante, Empresa Mixta (AMAEM). This project aims to create a data platform for the digitalization of all stages of the water cycle and is funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU program under the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for the Digitalization of the Water Cycle.
The primary goal of the contract is the design, construction, and implementation of an Open Data Water Intelligence Portal in a SaaS (Software as a Service) model, as well as its ongoing support and maintenance. The platform will centralize, structure, and facilitate access to the vast amount of data generated throughout the integrated water cycle managed by AMAEM in Alicante and surrounding municipalities.
Fran Muñoz, Innovation Director at APSL Nagarro and Head of the Public Sector in Spain, emphasized that “this project fully aligns with our vision of technology serving citizens, as it involves open data, clear and useful visualization, and the use of open-source code for public administration, avoiding vendor lock-in.”
This intelligent portal will enhance the public availability of relevant data for both citizens and the sector, while also ensuring interoperability with public administrations. The platform will be based on open-source technologies such as CKAN and will feature advanced functionalities, including visualization tools, APIs for data reuse, and mechanisms to ensure data quality, security, and traceability, all in compliance with national interoperability and security standards (NTI, ENS).
This new public contract further strengthens APSL Nagarro’s presence in the public sector, where it already collaborates with institutions such as the Barcelona City Council, A Coruña City Council, and the Balearic Government, among others.
